In response to today's (14 May) announcement of the appointment of Ron Gould to head the Electoral Commission's review of the Scottish elections, a Scotland Office spokesman said:
"The Scotland Office welcomes the Electoral Commission's announcement that an independent electoral expert will lead the review into the 2007 Scottish elections. Scotland Office Ministers and officials will of course co-operate with Mr Gould's inquiry."
