Scottish Secretary Helen Liddell today urged Scots companies who have not yet applied for the 2003 Queen's Awards to do so before the deadline passes in October.
Helen Liddell said:
"Scotland is a country of inventors and entrepreneurs and we have many excellent, dynamic companies. I would like to encourage the companies that build and shape our country to come forward and achieve the recognition they deserve by applying for a Queen's Awards 2003.
"The Awards recognise the achievements of our most enterprising companies. The Scottish companies which received the 2002 Queen’s Awards thrived thanks to their drive and creativity. They are role models for businesses across Scotland.
"So far 195 companies in Scotland have risen to the challenge. There is still time for others to apply before the closing date of 31st October. "
Companies can apply in one or more of three categories: International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.
Full details of the criteria under each category, as well as information on how to apply can be found on the Queen's Awards website at www.queensawards.org.uk
