Secretary of State cooks up a storm for Donaldson’s

23 Apr 2009

Pupils at Donaldson's school were given a cookery lesson with a difference today by the Secretary of State for Scotland,.

Marking the launch of the new Donaldson's charity cookbook, Jim Murphy and fellow MP, Brian Donohoe, prepared and served pupils the recipes they submitted for the fundraising effort.

The book  features recipes from politicians and celebrities including Prime Minister, Gordon Brown who offered his favourite Rumbledethumps; First Minister, Alex Salmond who submitted Cullen Skink; and football legend, Ally McCoist who shared his Steak Balmoral.  The pupils were served up a Hearty Lentil Broth from Jim Murphy and Beef Stroganoff from Brian Donohoe, both of which received the thumbs up from Donaldson's pupils.

Speaking about the event, Principal Janice MacNeill said, "The Donaldson's cookbook is a great way for us to raise much needed funds.  Today's support from Jim Murphy and Brian Donohoe has given sales of the book a sizzling boost."
