My deepest sympathies and prayers are with the families, friends and colleagues of those who have died today.
This tragedy reminds us that the North Sea is one of the harshest environments on earth. We must never forget the bravery of those who daily work to bring us the oil and gas our country needs.
Inspectors from the Air Accident Investigation Branch have been deployed and will be investigating all aspects of this tragedy. I would also add my thanks to the emergency services and others involved in the search and rescue operation for their swift initial response and efforts.
